Notes from July 27, 2008:
Who Are Your Heros? Jesus, and who else?
Act 4:32 ff -- What does a hero look like?
Quote from Oswald Sanders book entitled "Leadership"
Joseph (Barnabas) - son of encouragement
--en/courage
--dis/courage
Either/or: which do you do?
The church should be marked by encouragers.
Barnabas' example:
--modeled generosity--Acts 4
--welcomed Saul/Paul into the church--Act 9
--organized a group of new Christians into a vibrant church--Acts 11
--helped launch the first serious missions effort--Act 13
--believed in giving people second chances--Acts 15

My heros that first come to mind are men that influenced me early in life: Tine Hardeman (coach & teacher), Ev Boyce (coach & teacher), Steve StClair (coach & teacher), Jim Garvin (coach & professor). One common thing among them is they spent a lot of time with me. Hmmmmmmm... I have other heros too ... historical ... but that's enough for now. How about you? --Ralph Simons
